A: Thermidaire can help you reduce costs in many areas:

Q: Do I need to test my water on a regular basis?

 

A: It depends on your monitoring equipment and system.  On the average, cooling towers should be tested three times per week and steam boilers should be tested daily as a minimum.  Upgraded controllers can better control your system chemistry and may allow for less-frequent testing.  Discuss your testing requirements with your Summit Laboratories representative.  In many situations, installing a simple controller or water meter can enhance your control and reduce your testing.  If you are having difficulty controlling your system chemistry, Thermidaire will investigate the problem and help you better control your system.

Q: Dose Thermidaire have a research and development department?

 

A: Yes, Thermidaire has demonstrated the ability to design and turn the research results successfully into final approved products.  During approval testing of a product, Thermidaire’s R&D staff attentively monitor performance of the chemicals for any further necessary tuning of the formula in order to exactly fit the needs of our client.

Q: Does Thermidaire operate an environmental policy?

 

 

A: Thermidaire have always operated a strict code of practice in regards to protecting our planet. We do not vent any substance to the atmosphere, we always use the environmentally-friendly base products in production. No waste is generated in our production, all packaging is reused. We are particularly keen to see that our staff has a pleasant environment in which to work.

Q: What about Legionella bacteria in my cooling tower?

 

A. Legionella bacteria is present in many water systems. It is important to recognize that Legionella is likely present in most cooling towers.  To completely eliminate Legionella bacteria from your system will most likely include increased biocide dosages and frequency.  Please talk to Thermidaire about your Legionella concerns.  Many factors affect the amount of Legionella in your system, so testing for Legionella is a good starting point.  Thermidaire can test the level of Legionella bacteria in your system and make recommendations to you based on your system requirements. 

Legionella pneumophila is caused by breathing in the moisture of water droplets contaminated with the bacilli of Legionella pneumophila.  Symptoms include: coughing, cold chills, difficulty breathing, sore muscles, headache, severe stomachache, and heavy sputum.  The infection rate of this disease is about 5% with a death rate as high as 20%, mainly due to similar symptoms as the common cold resulting in a more time-consuming diagnosis.  People at a higher risk include the elderly, children, smokers, people weak in immunity, patients with lung disease, people with organ transplants and patients under treatment of sterol.  The bacilli of Legionella pneumophila have caused a disseminated community-wide infectious type of pneumonia as one of the top three diseases in Canada and U.S.

Infection seasons are most common in the summer and fall.  It was discovered that the source of this bacterial infection is related to utilization of cooling equipment and the cooling water splashed out from the cooling tower and sucked in the human body through breathing.  Scientists around the world also found that the bacteria of Legionella pneumophila, E-coli and Salmonella normally proliferate in water solutions, such as hot or cold water supply systems, cooling towers and streams condenser devices in addition to dehumidifiers, springs, pools and water taps.   These bacteria can even survive for several months in stagnated water fountains and distilled water

Q: Does Thermidaire sell glycol? 

 

A. Yes.  We can provide you with Ethylene or Propylene glycol with or without corrosion inhibitors.  As with our other chemical products, we can help you test your glycol systems and make recommendations based on test results.  We will also deliver glycol to the point of use when possible.  Glycol is available in drums, totes, and bulk delivery.

Q: Can Thermidaire train my people?

 

A. Yes.  We will generate a custom training program and operations manual for your facility.  We will schedule a training session with your personnel to cover the specifics of the chemical program and show them how to operate controllers, pumps, and test kits.  Refresher training programs are also conducted as needed.  Training certificates are provided for all attendees.  Thermidaire does not charge for these training programs when included with our chemical program.

Q: How long do I have to wait for my orders?

 

A. Most chemical deliveries are made within 2-5 business days.  Rush orders normally ship next day, but emergency orders can be made within HOURS of placing the order.  Thermidaire maintains a fleet of delivery vehicles, so next day deliveries are very common even without "rush" status.

Q: Does Thermidaire manufacture all its own Chemicals?

 

A. YES. Thermidaire prides itself on only selling products manufactured in our own factories where we are able to control all the raw materials required for some very rigorous specifications

A. There is no minimum order, Thermidaire will be pleased to supply you with the products you need, when you need it.

A.  Thermidaire Corporation Canada Limited was established in Toronto, Canada, in 1946 as a manufacturer of environmentally friendly industrial water treatment chemicals, fuel oil treatment, lubricant and sealant. The  Company has since expanded and diversified its businesses and earned its share of the North American market
